Chronicles of the gig economy, autonomous vehicles, and the platforms reshaping transportation and delivery. Covering Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Tesla, Waymo, and the race to autonomous mobility.

Lyft doing pretty well with Rentals

Little known is Lyft doing consumer rentals much like Hertz. Unlike Uber, which partnered with Hertz and Sixt to offer rentals, Lyft took the direct route—managing its own fleet.

Right now Lyft Rentals is super conveniently located in Mission. This is a smart expansion for the gig economy, giving riders more options and drivers potential partnerships. Love seeing Lyft innovate in transportation.

Update: Lyft has shut down their in-house rentals, opting to focus on partnerships instead. That's the beauty of the gig economy—quick pivots to what's working best, keeping things efficient and adaptive.
