W49 TWIL: More Fun at Mexico City
This week I learned (TWIL) about the enchanting allure of Teotihuacan, flying back to San Francisco and mostly traveling around.
- Teotihuacan: Explored the ancient Mesoamerican city near Mexico City, known for its impressive pyramids like the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, and the grand Avenue of the Dead. Learned about the city's rich history and architectural marvels.
- El Moro Churrería: Experienced the delight of freshly made churros at El Moro Churrería. Appreciated the taste and texture of these popular Mexican treats, freshly fried and coated with sugar, served warm.
- Horchata: Learned about Horchata, a traditional Mexican drink. It's a sweet, refreshing beverage usually made from rice, water, cinnamon, and sugar, often enjoyed as a cool complement to spicy foods or as a standalone treat.
- Palace of Fine Arts: After returning to San Francisco, I rediscovered the Palace of Fine Arts. Built for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition by Bernard Maybeck, this classical structure is a testament to early 20th-century architecture and a key cultural landmark in San Francisco.
