Kia’s EV6 crossed 2,880.5 miles of the United States in 2021 with seven hours, ten minutes, and one second plugged in, according to Kia’s record account. It beat the previous charging-time record by more than five and a half hours.
I like what the run showed: EV road trips weren’t only a Tesla story. But a record attempt isn’t the same as a normal family drive. Route planning, charger availability, and time spent waiting for a free plug matter as much as the car’s maximum charging rate. I would treat the record as a demonstration of possibility, then ask how repeatable it was without a record team.
