Editorial sample · Not a finished story

Why does the other line always move faster?

Imagine two checkout lines. Both have three people. One person needs a price check, and suddenly counting heads was a terrible forecast. This sample starts with that mismatch: the queue you can see and the work you cannot. A future simulation would let you change service times and compare one shared queue with two separate lines.
